ESPN is an American cable television network that broadcasts sports programs 24 hours a day. Initially, ESPN also broadcast entertainment programs, and later developed sports programs. The company was founded by Scott Rasmussen and his father Bill Rasmussen and launched on September 7, 1979, with Chet Simmons as chairman and CEO. The current chairman of ESPN is George Bodenheimer.
